Lets Talk Bluebirds

In the 1800s to the Early 1960s Eastern Bluebird habitat had drastically decreased with the modernization of our area. Natural nesting cavities for Bluebirds had been replaced with metal fencing. and older forests had been cut down for roadways and buildings.
Habitat loss along with the introduction of European Starlings, and House Sparrows had caused competition among the cavity nesters, which then resulted in great loss of Eastern Bluebirds.
With the help of Conservationists and the introduction of Bluebird boxes and Bluebird Trails their population has rebounded significantly. We will discuss how you can help Bluebirds flourish in your backyard!

The Basics of Backyard Bird Feeding

We will walk you through all the basics of bird feeding along with food, water, cover, and places to raise their young!
The average backyard may be visited regularly by 15 to 20 different bird species. However, a bird-friendly yard can attract up to 60 or more different species.
Join us at the Red Barn for light refreshments, as we help explain all the ways you can "Save the song birds" in your own back yard!
